After almost three years of living in Scotland it was time for me to move back to the USA for a new work assignment in Houston. My car was at my parents in Petaluma CA during my overseas assignment. I could have shipped it back to Houston, but figured I would take the opportunity to make it into an adventure. I took 2.5 weeks off of work and decided I would drive my car back to Houston visiting places I’ve never been and catching up with friends. I think everyone needs to take a 3,000 mile road trip at some point in their life. Kinda like a right of passage. Think of it as a combination of Easy Rider, Vanishing Point, Road Trip, and Dumb & Dumber all in one, but a lot more boring.
I packed up all my climbing, hiking, and camping gear and set out...... oh yeah, and 5 fake mustaches (which would come in handy during the trip). First stop was Petaluma to visit my parents. My sister came up to visit from Albuquerque and we visited my grandparents in Lodi. Also took a day to hang out with my buddy from college Jeff and his fiancé Natalie in San Jose. From there the real meat of the road trip began. At first there was no real plan, but it came together after making plans with all my friends. Click on each “Day” heading for the pictures and blog from each part of the trip. Below is an overall map of my journey.
Day 1-4 Petaluma San Jose Lodi Yosemite
