I’ve always wanted to go to Croatia. Not really sure why. Just seemed like a cool place to go. That and everyone I knew who has been there has said how great it was. My friend Megan was finishing up working in Africa and we decided to meet up in Croatia for a 5 day trip before she went back to the US. Pete came along too.
Croatia in April is definitely out of tourist season. The streets and bars were a bit empty in the evenings almost to the point where it was eerie.
We flew into Dubrovnik with its fortified old town. Then took a ferry up to Hvar. The ferry was huge, but completely empty. It could probably hold 100 cars. On our voyage it had 2. I think there were only about 30 people total on the whole boat. We spent a few days in Hvar and then took another ferry to Split. Took the morning exploring around, then rented a car and drove back down to Dubrovnik to finish out the trip.
If any of get a chance, go to Croatia. Just don’t do it in April. Shoot for Sept.
