8/26/08 - Everything is BIG in the US.
So this is a random observation, but I think it is really weird and worth posting. Since coming back to the US after living away three years I have noticed a lot of differences between America and the rest of the world that I never noticed before. Some like this are just plain weird.

I was grocery shopping today and saw a lot of the exact same products they sell in the UK, but something was different..... it took me a few isles to figure it out..... everything they sell in America is bigger. Just to prove my point I bought the same deodorant I buy in the UK (UK version on the right).

Now isn’t that weird??!!! I never thought when I was in the UK.... “Damn! I am out of deodorant again. I just bought some last week.”

Why would you need a bigger deodorant stick in the US? Its either Americans sweat more or have bigger armpits... or maybe both. What ever the case, it just seemed odd.

8/23/08 - Back in Houston
I’ve made it back to Houston. Road trip is over, which is very sad... and I have to start work on Monday. Wow! not fun.

Good to report there were no mishaps on the trip. No tickets, no accidents, nothing. Didn’t really even get lost much since the GPS was guiding me... well ok, did manage to enter in the wrong location once or twice.

All in all 3,300 miles to get from San Fran to Houston..... all I can say about Houston is it is HOT!!!! I already miss the 50 deg rainy summer days of Aberdeen.

8/18/08 - Where is Paul??
I haven’t been updating the site much, but a lot has been going on. Right now I am in Denver Colorado half way through my moving back to the USA road trip. Today is a rest day of sorts and I thought I would take the time to post some pictures from the past month.

It is interesting being back in the USA. The weirdest thing I forgot about was how convenient living in the States is. For example, at the beginning of my road trip I wanted to get some Mexican food for lunch, buy a charger for my cell phone, get an iced coffee, and check my email. If I were to try this in Aberdeen it would take me all day and trips all over town...... not so in the USA!!! I just got off the freeway at a major exit and sure enough there was a strip mall with a Baja Fresh, AT&T store, and a Starbucks.
